This practical training is a complement to the theoretical training on basic rigging principles.
The training covers the following elements:
- Simple systems
- Types of attachments and system limitations
- Simple lifts vs. complex lifts
- General inspection
- Lifting accessories (shackles, slings, chains, hooks, wire ropes, eye bolts)
This training is intended to meet the requirements of Québec’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (LSST), the Regulation respecting occupational health and safety, or the Safety Code for the construction industry. It introduces the user to the principles presented in the following reference manuals:
The objectives and durations are provided as a guideline for the instructor and for the participant, who will become familiar with the equipment and the related safety rules.
The program takes into account any prior experience the participant may already have and is based on a prior-learning recognition (competency-based) approach.
Depending on several factors, the duration of the training may vary (participant’s experience, environment and resource availability, number of machines, online teaching tools, etc.).
The instructor may also propose activities that allow for the simultaneous assessment of several skills.
